About Us

Welcome to Peak Dance Academy, which opened its doors in May 2014, an exciting Dance and Drama School based at Hilltop Primary School in Ashbourne, Derbyshire and The Church Rooms in Mayfield, Staffordshire.

Our school specializes in the ISTD and RAD syllabus’ in Imperial Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and National. We also offer Dancing With A Difference Pre School Classes, which is a unique dance curriculum which addresses the needs of children aged 3 years upwards. Street Dance/Commercial Classes are also available for girls and boys .We became an Accredited Acrobatic Arts School in 2018 and offer exams, which are recognised worldwide. Wedding dances and childrens parties can also be arranged by Helen. We believe that dance is a valuable opportunity to promote healthy lives, build self confidence, express emotions and co-ordination. We focus on each individual to reach their full potential whilst, at the same time, creating a fun and innovative learning environment.

There are  exciting opportunities to perform in well known venues in this Country and in Europe and there will be a school show locally every other year. Masterclasses will also be available throughout the year for children to join in.
Every year, there will be two scholarships available and these will be awarded each November at an Award Ceremony and Small Performance.

Helen Pattison, Principle, began dancing at the age of seven and performed professionally from the age of thirteen. On leaving school, she attended the famous Dance College, Laine Theatre Arts, where she gained her ISTD teaching qualifications as well as receiving the necessary training to work for some of the best choreographers in the business.

On leaving college, Helen worked not only in London and around the country, but also around the world. She has also been known to choreograph and carry out extensive rehearsals during her career and also spent time teaching dance in Primary Schools around Derbyshire.

Helen has been teaching at dancing schools in Derby and in Eyam for the past year. When not teaching, she is a Medical Professional and can be found working on an Emergency Ambulance in Manchester. Staff have up to date CRB checks, are fully insured and are medically trained.
